No permit is required and is monitored by the Harbor Police. The best spot to anchor is actually inside Glorietta Bay across from City Hall, next to the golf course. You want to anchor between the corner channel marker in Glorietta Bay and the white, no anchorage buoys. The anchorage can hold up to 20 boats and is very clam and flat. CORONADO ISLANDS, Mexico The Coronado Islands are located 11 miles south of San Diego Bay in Mexican water. The best anchorage is on the east side of South Coronado Island, around the middle in 30-40 feet of sand. Landing is not permitted on these islands. Good protection from normal winds and waves. There are remains of an old hotel ashore. You can anchor at the Islands without going through customs as long as you have no contact with another vessel. I would recommend a phone call to customs before you go just to reaffirm. The phone number for customs on "B St." Pier is (619) 557-5370.
